A new generation of Views Bulk Operations, and why it matters

Presenter(s):

A fair number of issues in the Drupal Commerce queue revolves around trying to do things in bulk, things such as deleting products, creating product displays, updating fields, etc. My company (Commerce Guys) dabbles a bit (:P) in Drupal Commerce and projects based on Drupal Commerce, and we've certainly felt the same need. Continuing the trend of relying on popular contrib modules for Drupal Commerce, and improving them in the process, we decided to improve Views Bulk Operations so that it can handle a much broader range of use cases, including the ones mentioned above. That work became the D7 branch of Views Bulk Operations. Some of the key points of the new code are: - Support for all entity types (Drupal Commerce, Organic Groups, you name it) - Amazing new support for Rules actions (reuse what Commerce & Commerce contrib modules provide, or write your own) - Support for any views style plugin (tables, grids, etc) - Support for relationships (create a node view, do operations on node authors. Or products of a product display view. Or product display nodes on a product view) - Greatly improved performance and user experience So, come learn what Views Bulk Operations is, what the main problems identified in the D6 version were and how we solved them. See how it allows you to create a whole new administration paradigm, and make your life easier. The examples will focus on Drupal Commerce, but the knowledge acquired can be applied to pretty much any drupal admin activity.
